Tallow is not new. What is new is the idea that skincare needs twenty ingredients and ten steps to feel complete. We chose tallow as the foundation of our creams because it gives us a rich, deeply moisturizing base without requiring a complicated formula.
So, what is tallow?
Tallow is a rendered fat traditionally made from beef fat.
In the Lark & Lull tallow creams, grass-fed & finished beef tallow is the first ingredient.
It is blended with organic olive oil, organic jojoba oil and two named essential oils, depending on the scent.
Five ingredients total.
Why did we choose it?
We wanted a cream with a rich texture that leaves dry-feeling skin moisturized, soft and comfortable without building the formula around a long list of ingredients.
Tallow provides the base that makes that possible.
The result is not a miracle treatment. It is not medicine. It is not a promise to change the biology of your skin.
It is a straightforward moisturizing cream built around a traditional ingredient.
Five ingredients.
Five ingredients.
Five ingredients.
Not a jar of 100% tallow.
Tallow is the foundation of our tallow creams, but each cream is a five-ingredient formula.
We think being precise about that matters.
Why olive and jojoba?
Our tallow creams pair the tallow base with organic olive oil and organic jojoba oil to create a spreadable, easy-to-use cream.
The final two ingredients are named essential oils that create the scent profile of each formula.
Why does it sometimes change texture?
Tallow is temperature sensitive.
The manufacturer notes that the tallow in these creams can melt at approximately 85°F / 29°C. If exposed to high temperatures, the oils may soften or separate.
This does not necessarily mean the product is spoiled.
Store your jar in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight or heat. If it melts, gently mix the product and allow it to cool again.
Everyone's skin is different. Read the complete ingredient list before use, particularly if you have known sensitivities or allergies. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
Simple does not mean universal.
We love a short ingredient list because it makes the formula easier to understand.
It does not mean every ingredient is right for every person.
That is why we show the label, explain what is inside, and let you decide what belongs in your ritual.
